Overview
The Ministry of Law and Justice is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Printing Assistant (5 positions) within the Government Printing Department. The successful candidates will be responsible for printing, mending, and recording under the supervision of the Senior Printing Officer.
Key Responsibilities
1. Printing
- Collect and arrange printing jobs in sequence as per instructions.
- Operate printing equipment, including guillotines, binders, and folding machines.
- Fold printed sheets to ensure correct sequence and alignment.
- Gather and stitch printed materials to produce final products.
- Examine and verify printed work for accuracy and completeness.
- Trim completed materials to prepare them for dispatch.
- Maintain quality control by frequently checking printed output.
- Record time taken and materials used for each job to facilitate proper costing.
2. Machine Mending
- Conduct daily cleaning and oiling of machines to maintain efficiency.
- Ensure the safety and security of ongoing and completed work.
3. Recording
- Document job hours and material usage for accurate costing and inventory management.
Requirements and Skills
Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma/Certificate in Business Studies or a related field plus two (2) years of experience in the printing industry.
OR - COSC (Cambridge Overseas School Certificate) plus six (6) years of experience in the printing industry (for in-service officers seeking promotion).
Skills & Competencies:
- Knowledge of printing processes, machinery, and finishing techniques.
- Ability to operate and maintain printing equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and quality control.
- Good organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work under deadlines and production schedules.
